Global Warming..

For term 1's inquiry we have learnt about environmental issues that we are facing..
In this presentation my partner and I have talked about
"Global Warming and the impacts".

The Impact Of Littering and How We Can Help...

What goes up and must come down? Have you ever imagined what our school would look
like if we had no litter? If so, it would take a while to discover. Scientists have stated their
opinion saying that by 2050 our oceans will be polluted with more rubbish than fish.

I vehemently believe that our families should start to reduce using plastic, aluminium foil and
cling/ glad wrap. To reduce this our families can try to buy us new lunch boxes that have the
little compartments. It is atrocious seeing how much rubbish has been dropped and left for others
to pick up.

In some countries if you get caught littering you are basically committing a crime.
Which will result you getting a fine or facing imprisonment. For New Zealand, high - risk or unwanted
litter, such as faeces or nappies, will attract the maximum of a $400 dollar fine. You will face
imprisonment from up to one year or more depending on how much rubbish you litter.

Have you ever wondered where your litter goes? Well, believe it or not, no one would think that
until you look at the “Great Pacific Garbage Patch” and see how disgusting it looks just because
people are too lazy to put their rubbish in the bin. People are not thinking of putting their rubbish
in the bin. When it rains, the litter gets washed up into the sewer and floats to the ocean which pollutes
the sea and kills the animals

Overall, littering needs to “STOP”. Even though it may take some time, it is possible.
Although personally I litter myself, I feel mortified with the amount of litter. If cops are more
strict with punishments and the government is more strict with the law, I vehemently believe we can
make a change and end this. Be apart of the solution not the pollution.

My exclusive time at the "Cordis Hotel"

My Time at the Cordis Hotel By Melianna

Once our permission slips for the coding workshop were handed
out we all thought “ Oh stink this is going to be boring” but we
were only excited because we were going to the Cordis Hotel.

When we arrived I could not believe that we got given an opportunity
to attend a high class hotel. On our way down we met a lady named
Sarah. She took us in one of the crystal rooms and we met
Michael Trengrove who was obsessed with creating a first - class
economy in New Zealand and the way he wanted to get there was
by teaching everyone how to code a computer.

Once we had sat down he went through the process with us and
then we talked about the d5 which is New Zealand, Israel, Estonia,
United Kingdom and South Korea. Michael showed us a
demonstration of a Ghostbusters game on an app called Scratch.
He let us go ahead go on any laptop we wanted to go to.
Once we sat down we had a little booklet next to us and it had
our instructions on how to make it. Some of us actually had
used Scratch about one to two years ago.

Then we had groups of foreign people coming in and out
asking us about what we were asking and how to use it.
A man named Ryan came to me and interviewed me about the game.
Michael Trengrove came to me and talked to me about being on the
Radio New Zealand. In the end there were some that got to share
which was myself, Ferah, Cleo, Charlee and others.

Our Softball Tournament ...

We were so blessed to have good weather. It was a very hot day but we were walking through
damp wet grass. I said to myself that it was going to be a very fun day. As we walked closer,
Miss Paton said that we were on the 7th diamond. So we put our bags down and pulled
out our gear to practice. Miss Paton asked us if we wanted her to grab her tarpaulin from
the car and we responded with yes. On every diamond the were at least two boys from
Wesley Intermediate to umpire the game.

In my team there was Angel, Meron, AJ, Ferah, Karla, Charlee, Myself, Tiana, Sayonara
and Havana. We started to practice at around 9:30. We were in a circle passing the ball and
catching then we started to bat. The day before our big game we had training with Mr Kopua
and he said “To play softball you need to know how to hit the ball, catch the ball and also throw
the ball.  Our first game was  at 10 am against Ponsonby and i feel that our first game was
good, but the scores were 4 - 7 to ponsonby. Our second game was on the same diamond
but we versed St Joseph's School, they were a really good but surprisingly we drew by 7 - 7.
Our third game was on the same field against Mt Roskill it was so close but the points were
6 - 7 and the win went to Mt Roskill.

At the end of the day it was a good game. We left May Road Memorial Park very exhausted.
Overall I think the good thing was that we all worked as a team. We didn’t come first, second
or third which was sad but we had a good day. Our placing was 11.
