Chickens

CHicken
Chickens are birds. A bunch of chickens is called a flock.

Chickens have a pecking order. The big bossy hen can peck others but the other chickens can’t peck the big bossy one because the big one is very dominant . All of the chickens can peck the ones beneath them but not all the ones beneath them, that are more dominant.

Chickens have small eyes. They have a medium sized wattle and a crown that is red. They have colourful   patterns on their feathers. Chickens have thin feet with a sharp spur behind to help them kick when they fight.

Chickens are kept for their meat which people eat. They are kept for their feathers used for cloaks and pillows.
They are also kept for their eggs. Every time they lay an egg the farmer comes and gets the egg , so the mother wonders where the egg has gone so she lays more. The farmer quickly grabs the egg so the baby won’t stay inside and develop or else the baby won’t get fried.
